This project would not have been possible without a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the support and accommodation of Marx Memorial Library (MML). We have been given generous access to archive material and images (some very rarely seen) from MML, the Society for Co-operation in Russian and Soviet Studies (SCRSS), Sputnik, RIA Novosti and the Modern Records Centre (MRC) at the University of Warwick. We have also used a very limited amount of material from the National Archives and from the British Library Newspaper Archive.

Explanatory text for the website, the exhibition and the brochure has been written by the Project Lead Researcher, Professor Mary Davis and the Project Co-ordinator, Tommy Hodgson, who have also conducted all the research and selected the material.

Note: Throughout 1917 until January 1918 we have used the Julian calendar then in use in Russia. There is a difference of 13 days between that calendar and our (Gregorian) calendar. An example is the day of of the first revolution of 1917. It is dated as having occurred on International Women’s Day (IWD) which then in Russia was 23rd February (hence it is always called the ‘February Revolution’). However, for us IWD is on 8th March. Soviet Russia abandoned the use of the Julian calendar in February 1918.
